Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The municipal government of Playa del Carmen has launched the 2026 Citizen Dialogues, a public consultation mechanism designed to collect proposals and opinions from residents for the update of the Municipal Development Plan (PMD) 2024-2027.
The initiative, led by Mayor Estefanía Mercado, aims to maintain a close relationship with the community by creating spaces where residents from various sectors can express their needs, concerns, and ideas to help shape public policies that reflect the municipality’s reality.
The sessions will be held at 6:00 p.m. at different locations across Playa del Carmen. The schedule begins June 19 at the Puerto Aventuras municipal office, continues June 24 in the La Guadalupana neighborhood, June 30 in the Luis Donaldo Colosio neighborhood, July 7 in the Ejido neighborhood, and concludes July 9 in the Centro neighborhood.
Each meeting will include working groups focused on four priority areas: Shared Prosperity, Inclusive Government, Restoring Peace, and Urban Transformation and Environment.
Seventeen specialized subcommittees will analyze and systematize the citizen proposals for integration into the update process of the municipal administration’s guiding document.
The call is open to all residents, including students, academics, business owners, civil organizations, members of the LGBTTTIQA+ community, older adults, people with disabilities, indigenous peoples, Afro-Mexicans, and any interested citizens.
Municipal authorities said the proposals gathered during the dialogues will be evaluated for possible inclusion as action items in the PMD 2024-2027, with the goal of strengthening public policies and addressing the population’s main demands.
