Platinum Awards Xcaret Reveal First Winners Ahead of Riviera Maya Gala

Madrid — The 13th edition of the Platinum Awards Xcaret announced its first winners on Tuesday, with the awards to be presented in ceremonies on May 7 and 9 in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

The initial awards recognized acting talent, with Álvaro Cervantes winning Best Supporting Actor for Sorda and Camila Pláate taking Best Supporting Actress for Belén. In series categories, César Troncoso and Andrea Pietra received awards for their supporting roles in El Eternauta.

The Platinum Award for Cinema and Education in Values went to Belén, starring Dolores Fonzi, a film that addresses women’s reproductive rights through an Argentine legal case.

Technical categories for films included Thales Junqueira for art direction, Mauro Herce for cinematography, and Pep Claret for special effects for Sirât, along with teams from O agente secreto, La Cena, and El cautivo. Series like Anatomía de un instante, El Eternauta, and Menem earned multiple awards in editing, sound, costume, and makeup.

This year’s edition introduced 12 new categories, bringing the total to 36 awards. Twenty-one will be presented at the May 7 opening ceremony, with the remaining 15 at the televised gala on May 9. Both events will be hosted by Carlos Torres and Cayetana Guillén Cuervo.

The main gala will take place at the Gran Tlachco Theater in Xcaret Park, where key categories like Best Film, Direction, Screenplay, and lead acting awards will be announced, along with prizes for series and long-form productions.

Argentine actor Guillermo Francella will receive the 2026 Honor Award for his career in film and television. The awards are supported by Quintana Roo, Riviera Maya, Grupo XCARET, and Madrid institutions, organized by EGEDA and FIPCA with FIACINE backing.
