Tulum, Quintana Roo — Motorsport in Quintana Roo is set for a historic moment as Tulum prepares to host its first NASCAR event, marking a milestone for the region and offering local drivers like Santiago Cruz a chance to compete for top positions.

The new circuit, currently under construction, will measure 600 meters and feature a challenging design with no banking in the curves. This technical layout will demand precision driving and fine-tuned vehicle setups, potentially creating key advantages during the competition.

Cruz acknowledged the track will pose a significant technical challenge. The lack of curve inclination requires absolute driving precision and meticulous vehicle adjustments, which could prove decisive in the race.

Unlike other sports, motorsport does not involve daily track training. The Quintana Roo native explained his preparation focuses on physical and mental work, along with simulator sessions, while actual car practices occur only when the team schedules them.

He enters this competition following a positive performance in Chiapas, a result that boosts his confidence ahead of this new challenge. His racing career began at age six, driven by a passion that evolved into professional aspirations.

The race, dubbed “Tulum 100,” expects to draw over 10,000 spectators who can watch competitions across multiple categories. Expectations run high both for the on-track spectacle and the event’s impact on elevating the destination’s profile in national motorsport.

The driver confirmed he has already seen the facilities and followed the infrastructure progress closely, increasing anticipation among participants.

Santiago Cruz will compete in the Trucks Mexico Series, where he anticipates a competitive performance targeting top positions. He will also make his debut in the Challenge category.

Among his season goals, he aims to become champion in Mexico Series and make the jump to motorsport in the United States, an objective he considers crucial for his professional development.

With his team’s support and encouragement from his close circle, the driver hopes this Tulum race becomes a turning point in his career while inviting fans to join this event promising unprecedented excitement in Quintana Roo.
