Isla Mujeres Crafts Fair to Become Monthly Event to Boost Local Economy

Artisans display traditional crafts at the Isla Mujeres Crafts Fair in Paseo de la Trigueña

Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — The municipal government of Isla Mujeres has announced that its crafts fair will now be held monthly, aiming to boost the local economy and cultural tourism while supporting artisans.

Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde led the recent edition of the fair at Paseo de la Trigueña, featuring over 45 local artisans showcasing traditional crafts. The event seeks to dignify local work and strengthen the cultural identity of the island municipality.

Gómez emphasized that these fairs will not be isolated events, guaranteeing visibility and real sales opportunities for local producers through monthly gatherings.

During a tour of the stalls, the mayor spoke with creators, recognizing the quality and originality of their pieces. “It’s essential to create spaces where talent has visibility,” she said.

The municipal government’s strategy promotes local consumption and reinforces Isla Mujeres’ position as a cultural and community reference in Quintana Roo, ensuring tourism benefits reach island families directly.
