The community of Puerto Aventuras might soon be home to a new upper secondary level (highschool) campus by 2025. The proposed construction of a new Colegio de Bachilleres campus could be realized this year, following successful negotiations to secure a two-hectare site. The Mayor of Puerto Aventuras, Gilberto Gómez Martínez, announced this development, emphasizing the importance of this project due to the increasing demand for highschool education in the area.

Previously, the land was available free of charge, but lacked the necessary legal documentation. Now that the land has been regulated, negotiations can proceed towards the commencement of construction. The existing liaison office of the Colegio de Bachilleres in Playa del Carmen, which currently operates in Puerto Aventuras, is unable to accommodate all students interested in this level of education.

“With the legal certainty of the land now established, we can continue with the necessary negotiations to open the school this year in the Mayor’s office,” said Gilberto Gómez. He stressed that this project is a priority to enhance the educational infrastructure in the region.

The opening of this new campus is not only aimed at meeting the current needs of the student population, but it also aims to provide a quality educational alternative in a rapidly growing area. Local authorities are confident that negotiations with the relevant bodies will allow construction to start in the near future.
