A significant multi-vehicle accident occurred this morning on Federal Highway 307, near the town hall of Puerto Aventuras. The accident resulted in extensive property damage, estimated in the thousands of pesos, and one person was injured. At least four vehicles were involved in the collision.
The accident took place around 10:00 AM in the southbound lane of the Playa del Carmen-Tulum stretch, just a short distance from the town hall's overpass.
A van, registered in the state of Chihuahua, caused the accident by hitting another vehicle due to excessive speed and misjudging the braking distance required to navigate the overpass. The impact propelled the Nissan van into a taxi from the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río union. Two other vehicles, unable to brake in time, also collided with the van.
Following the accident, local authorities and the National Guard arrived at the scene to manage the situation. An ambulance was also dispatched to assess a woman who had sustained multiple bruises. Fortunately, she did not require hospitalization. All vehicles involved in the accident were eventually towed away for further investigation, while liability was determined among the parties involved.
