NASCAR Mexico Series to Make History With Tulum 100 at Airport Oval

NASCAR Mexico Series car racing on a temporary oval track at Tulum International Airport

Tulum, Quintana Roo — NASCAR Mexico Series is set to make history this weekend with the Tulum 100, the third round of the 2026 season, held on a temporary oval track built at Tulum International Airport.

The 600-meter oval, constructed within the airport grounds, will host a 60-minute race on Sunday, April 26, at 6:30 p.m. local time. The event is part of the Tulum Air Show, which combines stock car racing with aerial demonstrations by the Mexican Air Force.

This marks the first time NASCAR Mexico Series has held a points race outside a permanent racetrack. The oval was built using materials approved by NASCAR to ensure driver and fan safety.

Rubén García Jr. enters as the driver to beat after winning the first two races of the season. His victories bring his career total to 29, making him the all-time winningest driver in NASCAR Mexico Series history. Rubén Rovelo, with 28 wins, will look to tie that mark.

In the Challenge Series, Víctor Barrales Jr. won the first race and Giancarlo Vecchi took the win in Chiapas.

For the first time, NASCAR Mexico Series features three female drivers on the grid: Regina Sirvent, Alexandra Mohnhaupt, and Majo Rodríguez — the only NASCAR championship worldwide with that many women competing.

The Mexico Series and Challenge Series will run separate races due to track dimensions, ensuring close competition.
