Cozumel, Q. Roo. — Hope remained afloat, and today the good news spreads throughout Quintana Roo: Cozumel captains Jorge Aragón and Ricardo Argáez have been rescued safe and sound in the Gulf of Mexico. They had been adrift since August 20 after running out of fuel.

The discovery occurred 250 miles north of Progreso, where a cargo ship of Polish origin detected the immobilized vessel. The crew of the international ship provided immediate assistance, achieving what their families, friends, and the entire nautical community of Quintana Roo had hoped for with faith and anguish: the sailors' return alive.

Once on board, Jorge and Ricardo received urgent medical attention, hydration, and food. Despite the adversity, both are reported to be out of danger, in good health, and in good spirits for their reunion with their loved ones.

“Thank God we are alive,” was the first thing they expressed upon receiving care, words that are now multiplying as an echo of relief in every port, every dock, and every home in Quintana Roo.

The case has moved the entire peninsula, recalling the bravery and sacrifice of those who dedicate their lives to the sea. In Cozumel, friends and family are already preparing to welcome them with open arms, recognizing that their return is more than a rescue: it is a second chance that life has given them.

The story of Cozumel captains Jorge Aragón and Ricardo Argáez is not only a tale of survival but also one of faith, solidarity, and gratitude towards those who, even on the high seas, become unexpected heroes.
