Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Mexico State Symphony Orchestra (OSEM) will perform a free concert on Friday, Oct. 23, at the Cancún Airport Station of the Maya Train, continuing a tour of southeastern Mexico held to mark its 55th anniversary.
The concert is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the station in Quintana Roo and is open to the public at no charge. Under the baton of music director Rodrigo Macías, the orchestra will perform its “Program 4,” a selection of classical works by international composers alongside signature pieces.
The “Tren Maya Tour” is organized jointly by the Estado de México state government and the Maya Train project. Organizers said the initiative aims to decentralize the country’s artistic offerings and bring symphonic music to rail passengers and residents of the communities along the route.
The tour opened on Oct. 18 and covers landmark venues and stations across five states: Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.
After the Cancún performance, the orchestra will remain in Quintana Roo for additional concerts and special recordings at stations in Tulum.
