Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Municipal President Estefanía Mercado supervised the progress of the "Remodeling and Repaving of Avenida 10 Norte, First Stage" project, a public works initiative that will directly benefit more than 60,000 inhabitants and improve urban mobility in one of the most heavily trafficked areas of Playa del Carmen. The project represents an investment of 42 million, 914 thousand, 671.71 pesos from the Fondo de Aportaciones para el Fortalecimiento de los Municipios (FORTAMUN).
Accompanied by the Secretary of Infrastructure and Public Works, Dorys Aké, the mayor toured the section between Avenidas Constituyentes and CTM. Work being carried out includes layout, leveling, reconstruction of sidewalks and curbs, installation of lighting, planters, absorption wells, ramps, and new asphalt surfacing, in addition to road signage for safer mobility.
"We are widening the sidewalks, creating a two-way bike lane, and increasing the size of the median to plant more trees. This is how we build a more humane, sustainable, and orderly city!" she stated.
This project, she said, represents their commitment to the well-being and safety of Playa del Carmen families. "We know that Avenida 10 is an essential route for workers, merchants, and tourists; its rehabilitation will strengthen mobility and contribute to the orderly development of our city."
Meanwhile, Dorys Aké added that the remodeling of Avenida 10 Norte is part of Axis 4: Urban Transformation of the Municipal Development Plan 2024–2027, which is focused on executing quality public works that address the most urgent needs of the population.
With actions like this, the Municipal Government headed by Estefanía Mercado reaffirms its commitment to a close, efficient, and responsible administration that transforms the city with modern, safe, and functional infrastructure for all the people of Playa del Carmen.
