Cancun, Quintana Roo — Tabasco swimmer Mariana Chavez praised the competitive yet friendly atmosphere at the 2026 National Masters Long Course Championship, held at the Cancun Olympic Pool with around 650 athletes from across Mexico.

Chavez noted that the event, considered one of the most important on the masters calendar and held twice a year, serves as a preparation platform for the Pan American Masters Championship in Buenos Aires 2026.

Chavez is part of the Tabasco delegation alongside Deyanira Sanchez Vidal, Rafael Chavez Gochicoa, David de Israel Ruiz, Juan Lopez Macias, and Antonio Muradas Fernandez, who are competing in various events.

“It’s a wonderful experience to share with swimmers from all over the country and keep competing to stay active,” she told Grupo Canton during Saturday’s session.

The championship, which concludes Sunday, brings together participants from different age categories and reinforces Cancun’s role as a host for major national aquatic events.
