Motorcyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run on Highway 307 Near Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A motorcyclist died Saturday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle on Federal Highway 307 near Playa del Carmen, authorities said.

The crash occurred close to a police checkpoint at Punta Maroma. Witnesses reported that the victim was hit by a private car.

Bystanders stopped to help and called emergency services. Private paramedics arrived minutes later but found the motorcyclist had no vital signs due to the severity of the injuries.

The driver involved fled the scene and has not been identified. Police cordoned off the area, causing slow traffic on the Cancun-to-Playa del Carmen stretch.

State prosecutors and forensic experts processed the scene and removed the body, which was taken to the medical examiner’s office. The victim remains unidentified.
