In Cancun, Quintana Roo, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa recently inaugurated the National Convention of the National Chamber of Cargo Transportation (CANACAR). The convention was attended by over 1,200 transporters from across the country.

The event emphasized the importance of female inclusion in the transportation industry. Over 200 women were trained by the Association of Women Operators and the Association of Operators of Cargo Vehicles. Lezama stated, "Women can achieve anything we set out to do, and we will never again be told that we can't! Of course we can, and we will always be able to!"

Lezama noted that it took 48 years for Quintana Roo, which is soon to celebrate its 50th birthday, to elect a woman as governor. She also highlighted that after 200 years of republican life, Mexico will be governed by a woman, Claudia Sheinbaum.

She stressed that cargo transportation is a crucial industry for Quintana Roo. The Tren Maya project, four international airports, and tourism development create a high demand for goods to supply hotels, restaurants, ports, and airports. This demand helps Quintana Roo maintain its status as a global benchmark for tourism and development.

Lezama emphasized that prosperity in Quintana Roo should be shared, with improvements in workers' livelihoods being a key focus. This is reflected in the New Agreement for Well-being and Development, which represents a broad alliance to ensure social well-being reaches every household.

Lezama also acknowledged the importance of transporters in the transportation of goods and merchandise, often under challenging weather conditions. She announced plans for a safe stop in Quintana Roo to support these workers.

The convention was attended by several notable figures, including the Mayor of Benito Juarez, Ana Paty Peralta de la Peña, Senator Eugenio Segura, the President of CONCAMIN, Alejandro Malagón Barragán, the President of CCE MX, Francisco Alberto Cervantes Díaz, and the Undersecretary of Transportation of SICT, Rogelio Jiménez Pons.
