Cancún, Quintana Roo — A man convicted of acting as a hitman in the 2021 murder of a Cuban woman in Cancún has been sentenced to 37 years and six months in prison, the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office announced.
Authorities identified the convicted man as Aarón Abinadi Palomo Cabrera. According to prosecutors, he received a firearm and direct orders to kill the woman, who was shot at her home in the Haciendas Real del Caribe subdivision in November 2021.
Prosecutors said Palomo Cabrera and another man arrived at the residence on a motorcycle. He got off the vehicle and fired multiple shots at the victim, inflicting wounds that proved fatal.
Investigators identified the alleged intellectual author of the attack as a man known as “Comandante Lobo,” who reportedly planned and ordered the killing following a dispute with the victim.
During the trial, the Public Prosecutor’s Office presented expert and investigative evidence that established the defendant’s criminal liability. A judge imposed the prison sentence along with a fine of 201,645 pesos.
