Man Found Dead With Signs of Torture in Cancun’s Region 100

Police officers cordon off a street in Cancun's Region 100 where a man's body was found with signs of violence.

Cancun, Quintana Roo — A major security operation unfolded Monday morning in Cancun’s Region 100 neighborhood after residents discovered the body of a man showing signs of torture and stab wounds.

Authorities received the emergency call around 7:00 a.m. local time. Neighbors leaving for work found the victim lying on the sidewalk along 125th Street, just steps from Chac Mool and Jose Lopez Portillo avenues.

State and municipal police officers arrived at the scene and requested medical assistance. Civil Protection paramedics confirmed the man had no vital signs.

According to preliminary medical examinations, the victim suffered multiple blunt force injuries and sharp force wounds, likely inflicted with a knife, which caused his death.

The deceased remains unidentified as he carried no official identification. He is described as a man approximately 35 years old, of medium build and brown complexion, wearing a black T-shirt, black dress pants, and dress shoes.

Witnesses told investigators they heard a heated argument in the street during the early morning hours but were too afraid to intervene. The body was not discovered until dawn.

Officers cordoned off the area to preserve the crime scene. Investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office and forensic experts collected evidence and ordered the body transferred to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.

Authorities are reviewing footage from public and private security cameras in the area to identify suspects.
