Man Arrested After Verbally Assaulting Police, Fleeing in Mototaxi in Playa del Carmen
Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Municipal police officers arrested a 21-year-old man accused of verbally assaulting them and attempting to flee in a mototaxi in the Villas del Sol neighborhood.
The suspect, identified as Jesús Ángel “N.”, a Quintana Roo native, was taken into custody on charges of disobedience and resisting authority. According to officials, officers on routine patrol spotted the man, who immediately began insulting and confronting them.
When police moved to intervene, the suspect tried to escape by boarding a green-striped Piaggio mototaxi. Officers managed to stop him before he could leave the area.
During the arrest, police also seized a cell phone from the suspect. Jesús Ángel “N.” was taken along with the mototaxi and confiscated items to police headquarters, where he will undergo a medical evaluation before being handed over to the State Prosecutor’s Office.
