Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — The Isla Mujeres government kicked off Pride Month activities with a symbolic lighting ceremony at the municipal palace, reaffirming its commitment to building a more inclusive and respectful community free from discrimination.

During the event, Social Development Director Suemi González Sánchez highlighted that the municipal government is promoting ongoing actions aimed at recognition, equal rights, and full participation for all people without distinction.

González noted that diversity strengthens the social fabric of Isla Mujeres and reiterated that inclusion, respect, and human dignity are fundamental principles for building a fairer and more equitable municipality with opportunities for everyone.

The lighting ceremony marked the official start of activities scheduled throughout June and symbolizes institutional support for the LGBTTTIQ+ community, promoting visibility, recognition, and the defense of human rights.

The event also featured artistic expressions and messages from representatives of sexual diversity, who emphasized the importance of continuing to create safe spaces free from violence and discrimination where all people can fully develop.
