Isla Mujeres Firefighters Receive New Equipment and Station

Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — The municipal government has delivered new equipment and uniforms to the island’s fire department and announced plans to build a new civil protection and firefighter station in Costa Mujeres, a package of measures unveiled on Firefighter’s Day.

Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde recognized the work of the women and men who make up the fire department, highlighting their commitment to protecting the lives, property and safety of island families.

As part of the effort, the city has strengthened the emergency corps with specialized uniforms, protective gear and vehicles designed to improve response times to incidents.

The new Civil Protection and Firefighter Station in Costa Mujeres will include administrative offices, dormitories, a dining hall, restrooms, common areas and a gym.

The facility is intended to improve working conditions for personnel and expand coverage in areas such as Costa Mujeres, Ciudad Mujeres and Punta Sam, where demand for emergency services has grown.

“Investing in firefighters is also a way to guarantee the safety of the public by giving them the right tools to do their jobs more efficiently,” Gómez Ricalde said.

The administration said it will continue working to strengthen emergency services and improve the municipality’s capacity to respond to risk situations.
