Puerto Morelos, QR — Authorities successfully located two kidnapping victims who had been held for ransom since Friday. The pair, both from Cancún, were found on a ranch in the municipality of Puerto Morelos over the weekend.

According to officials, on the afternoon of July 18, specialized kidnapping and extortion investigators received a phone call from a man reporting the possible abduction of a relative and his colleague. Both victims were employees of a company that had traveled to work at a hotel in Puerto Morelos before heading to a ranch along the Cancún-Leona Vicario Highway for a scheduled evaluation meeting.

Contact with the victims was lost at this location, and the reporting individual later received calls from unknown numbers demanding 100,000 pesos for their release.

Victims Located During Negotiations

Investigators tracked the victims to a property along the Cancún-Leona Vicario Highway. One of the men was found inside a pickup truck, still on the phone with the alleged kidnappers, whom the victim identified as their captors.

The two businessmen were later transferred to the Attorney General's Office (FGE) in Cancún to file a formal complaint. Authorities have not yet identified the two suspects believed to be responsible for the kidnapping.

Recent Similar Incident

Earlier this month, a mother and her adult son were also found held captive on a ranch in Puerto Morelos. Police have not confirmed whether the latest kidnapping occurred at the same property.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine possible connections between the cases.
