Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Hyatt Zilara Cancún has formally reopened after a 13-month renovation that cost $80 million and touched every part of the adults-only property, hotel officials announced.
The project covered a full transformation of the resort’s 310 suites, public areas and food and beverage outlets, and added new infrastructure designed for events and weddings.
Hotel executives said the investment also created 560 direct jobs, strengthening the destination’s tourism competitiveness and its appeal to investors.
U.S. travelers make up most of the guest mix
Eduardo Rojas, general manager of Hyatt Zilara Cancún, said about 70% of guests come from the United States and pointed to strong prospects in the Asian market.
The reopening ceremony drew local and state officials, including Cancún Mayor Ana Paty Peralta and Quintana Roo Tourism Secretary Bernardo Cueto.
Officials acknowledged the hotel group’s bet on the state, which now has more than 140,000 hotel rooms, and credited its staff with helping position Cancún internationally.
