Cancún, Quintana Roo — On July 21, it will mark four years since 12-year-old Fernanda Cayetana Canul Blanco disappeared from the mainland area of Isla Mujeres. Despite arrests and extensive searches, authorities have found no trace of the girl.
Fernanda was last seen on July 21, 2022, after leaving her home to do housework at a neighbor’s house. She never returned, prompting a missing person alert and a joint state-federal investigation.
Investigators identified Marcos Antonio N and Angélica N as the main suspects. The pair fled Quintana Roo after the disappearance but were arrested months later in Chiapas following a coordinated operation.
The State Prosecutor’s Office said Marcos Antonio N was formally charged with disappearance committed by private individuals. However, neither suspect has provided information that could lead to Fernanda’s location.
Over the past four years, authorities have conducted searches in jungles, properties, and bodies of water, as well as multiple raids. National alerts remain active, and rewards are still offered for verifiable information.
Fernanda’s mother, Deysi Blanco, continues to lead the search and demands that the investigation not stop. The case remains open with no definitive answers.
