Four Sentenced to 50 Years for Kidnapping in Playa del Carmen

Four individuals sentenced to 50 years in prison for aggravated kidnapping in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A court has sentenced four people to 50 years in prison for aggravated kidnapping, the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office announced.

The convicted individuals are Job Saúl Hernández Velázquez, Iván Augusto Ramírez García, Aarón Olán Sastre, and Yuli Daneli Dzul Olán.

Prosecutors presented evidence linking the four to the October 2021 kidnapping of a victim whose identity remains protected. The crime occurred at a home in the Palmas I neighborhood.

According to the investigation, the perpetrators entered the residence, subdued the victim, and took him to the upper floor, where they beat him and threatened him with firearms. They also attempted to force him to hand over a safe containing money and announced they would take possession of a Nissan Sentra vehicle and the property.

The victim was rescued after his sister called 911 upon noticing suspicious activity at the house. Police officers arrived and arrested the four suspects red-handed at the scene.

Authorities seized a semi-automatic pistol, a revolver, a Nissan Sentra, ropes used to immobilize the victim, and a silicone gun.

In addition to the prison term, each defendant must pay a fine of 358,480 pesos (approximately $18,000 USD).
