OKAN School of Art in Cancun Opens Bachelor’s Degrees in Acting and Dance

Cancun, Quintana Roo — The OKAN School of Art in Cancun has officially opened enrollment for the 2026 generation of its Bachelor’s degrees in Acting and Dance, marking a new phase of academic and artistic growth in northern Quintana Roo.

Ernesto Tamayo, founder and dean of the Acting program, announced that the higher education programs are scheduled to begin in September 2026. The selection process will include preparatory workshops, intensive audition workshops, diagnostic classes, and artistic mentoring focused on comprehensive stage training.

Specialized Curricula in Performing Arts

The university offers two main programs. The first, “The Actor in Presence,” is a curriculum focused on technical voice development, emotion management, and stage expression. The second, “Inhabiting the Body,” centers on rigorous dance technique, body awareness, and presence in contemporary performance.

Summer 2026 Workshops and Short Film Production

As part of its cultural expansion strategy in Cancun, OKAN has also announced its Summer 2026 offerings. In collaboration with CIAE Performing Arts, the school will offer artistic summer workshops for children aged 7 to 11, covering acting, dance, painting, crafts, and creativity stimulation.

For youths aged 12 to 17, the school will offer an intensive workshop titled “Create Your Short Film,” training students in acting for camera, visual narrative, and audiovisual production fundamentals. For young adults and adults, the experiential workshop “Body · Emotion · Presence” will focus on physical theater, breathing techniques, improvisation, and body expression.

Stage Methodology Applied to Business

Beyond training performers, OKAN is venturing into the corporate sector with a new line of business workshops. These use theater and dance tools to improve communication skills, team leadership, sales strategies, and customer service excellence.

With this academic and commercial diversification, the institution aims to strengthen the professionalization of the arts and open new platforms for creative, economic, and human development in Quintana Roo.
