Elderly Woman Beaten and Abandoned After Apparent Kidnapping in Cancún

Several police pickup trucks and an ambulance with flashing red and blue lights are parked on a paved street at night beneath palm trees.

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A large police deployment descended on the Ciudad Natura subdivision in Región 260 after emergency dispatchers received a report that an elderly woman had been forcibly taken, beaten by her captors and then abandoned in the same area.

According to preliminary information, unidentified men forced the woman into a truck and held her for several minutes. They then left her at the far end of the subdivision with visible injuries across her body.

Neighbors who noticed her condition alerted local authorities, prompting a rapid response and the deployment of patrols through the surrounding streets.

Municipal and State Police officers arrived to document the incident and begin the corresponding protocols. The case took an unexpected turn when officers tried to interview her about the suspects and the vehicle involved.

The woman, visibly in shock and apparently intimidated, declined to provide information and refused to discuss what may have motivated the attack or to identify her assailants.

She also declined medical attention at the scene, rejecting transport to a hospital by paramedics for a full assessment of her injuries. In addition, she turned down an offer of police protection to accompany her to the State Prosecutor’s Office to give a formal statement.

Faced with her refusal, officers cordoned off the area where she was found as a precaution and notified the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Authorities will handle the case file and are expected to review whether surveillance cameras near the subdivision captured the incident in an effort to clarify the circumstances.
