Elderly Mototaxi Driver Severely Injured in Suspected Robbery in Cancun
Cancun, Quintana Roo — An elderly mototaxi driver was seriously injured Thursday after being attacked with a rock during a suspected robbery in the Region 244 neighborhood of La Esperanza.
According to initial reports, the assailant struck the driver with a stone, causing severe head wounds. Emergency responders treated the victim at the scene before transporting him to a hospital, where he remains under medical observation.
After learning of the attack, fellow mototaxi operators launched a search for the suspect. Witnesses said they caught up with the man a few blocks away, knocked him down, and held him until police arrived.
Security personnel took the suspect into custody and turned him over to authorities for investigation. Officials have not yet released an update on the victim’s condition or the charges the suspect may face.
