Chetumal, Mexico — Patients at Chetumal General Hospital are facing safety risks due to deteriorated flooring in key areas of the facility, with holes and uneven surfaces creating tripping hazards, particularly for those with mobility issues or using medical equipment like IV poles.
The issue gained attention after a citizen posted about it on social media, sparking concerns over patient safety. The complainant noted that the problem occurs in high-traffic areas where patients regularly pass through.
“The solution would be simple: apply cement to level the floor and repair the existing damage,” the citizen stated. They emphasized that this is not a major construction project but basic maintenance that would ensure user safety.
Unable to contact state authorities directly through social media, the public has called on the hospital’s management to urgently address these deficiencies.
The case highlights the importance of maintaining not only medical care standards but also the physical conditions of healthcare facilities.
