Workers marching in a May Day parade in Cozumel, Quintana Roo

Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The Confederation of Mexican Workers (CTM) is set to mobilize 700 workers in a May Day parade on May 1 in Cozumel, honoring labor struggles and pressing for current demands.

Moisés Méndez, general secretary of the CTM in Cozumel, confirmed the participation of 700 workers in the contingent. The march commemorates the Cananea miners’ strike, a historic symbol of labor rights in Mexico.

Méndez emphasized that the event will go beyond ceremony, serving as a platform to demand respect for achievements such as housing, fair wages, and better working conditions for the working class.

The parade will involve 32 affiliated unions representing key sectors on the island, including hospitality, restaurants, tourism transportation, and commerce.

The mobilization aims to strengthen union unity and reiterate demands to authorities, as workers continue to defend their rights and well-being.
