Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo — Seven minors were injured early Saturday morning after a serious rollover crash inside the Puerto Aventuras hotel and residential complex. Emergency responders from Civil Protection, the Fire Department, and paramedic units from Playa del Carmen were dispatched to the scene to provide urgent medical assistance and coordinate hospital transfers.
The accident occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Bahía de Akumal Street, near the Puerto Aventuras Cultural Center.
According to preliminary information, a white vehicle driven by a minor lost control for reasons that remain under investigation. The car left the roadway at speed, struck a concrete structure, overturned, and came to rest in nearby brush. All seven occupants—also minors—were trapped inside the vehicle following the impact.
Emergency services were alerted through the 911 system by nearby residents, allowing responders to arrive quickly. Firefighters, Civil Protection personnel, and paramedics worked together to assess the scene, stabilize the injured, and provide pre-hospital medical care. Authorities confirmed that no fatalities were reported.
Residents told authorities the crash could be heard from several blocks away, causing alarm among neighbors and security staff within the gated community. Unofficial reports suggest the vehicle may have been traveling at speeds of up to 140 kilometers per hour at the time of the crash, though this has not yet been confirmed by investigators.
Parents and guardians arrived shortly after the incident and authorized the transfer of most of the injured minors to private hospitals in Playa del Carmen. Medical authorities respected these requests.
After the injured were transported, Civil Protection personnel secured the area while crews removed the damaged vehicle. The collision also caused damage to part of the community’s water supply system, leaving some residents and visitors temporarily without water service. As of the latest update, service had not yet been fully restored.
