Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The Foundation of Parks and Museums of Cozumel (FPMC) will host a special Mother’s Day concert titled “Noche de Rosas y Serenata” on Saturday, May 9, at 7 p.m. at the Museum of the Island auditorium. The event will feature the Rondalla Cuzamil, a local musical group.

Dianela Cervantes Chi, director of Pedagogy and Social Assistance at FPMC, said the event is part of the institution’s efforts to promote culture, showcase local talent, and strengthen family bonds.

The Rondalla Cuzamil is made up of nine young musicians from Cozumel who specialize in Mexican romantic music. They began their artistic training at CBTIS No. 28 under the guidance of Argelia Chacón Díaz, a singing and guitar instructor at FPMC.

Cervantes Chi noted that the group uses guitars, requintos, and harmonized voices to convey emotions and stories that resonate deeply with audiences, making it an expression of identity and community.

FPMC General Director Juanita Alonso Marrufo said the event brings culture to families, supports youth talent, and creates spaces for healthy coexistence that strengthen the social fabric, in line with Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa’s New Agreement for the Welfare and Development of Quintana Roo.

The concert will feature a repertoire of classic songs including “Gema,” “Reloj,” “Sabor a mí,” “La gloria eres tú,” “Corazón de roca,” “Cuando calienta el sol,” “Te lo pido por favor,” “Así son ellas,” and “Amor eterno.”
