Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Two workers were injured Thursday in a fall at a construction site in the Ciudad Mayakoba residential complex, north of Playa del Carmen.
According to unofficial reports, the workers fell about 8 meters (26 feet) while working on a two-story building under construction.
Emergency services were alerted through the 911 dispatch line. Officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), firefighters, and civil protection personnel arrived at the scene to provide first aid and secure the area for investigators.
Due to the severity of his injuries, one of the workers was taken by emergency responders to the state health services hospital (SESA), where he remains in critical condition.
The State Prosecutor’s Office and local authorities have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the accident and to verify whether the construction site had the required safety measures in place.
