Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A man believed to be Colombian was shot multiple times in a neighborhood here Saturday night.
The attack occurred at the intersection of Chemuyil Avenue and Cobá Street in the Xcacel subdivision. Municipal police officers arrived at the scene shortly after the shooting.
Witnesses reported that two assailants on a motorcycle chased down the man and fired at him several times.
Bystanders called emergency services, who evaluated the injured man and urgently transported him to General Hospital. His condition was reported as serious.
At the scene, officials from the State Prosecutor’s Office secured four spent shell casings. Forensic experts packaged the evidence for inclusion in an investigation file.
Police authorities have not reported any arrests in connection with the attack.
