Cancun, Quintana Roo — Parque Cancun has expanded its environmental education program for the summer, offering more than 30 workshops, guided tours, and activities aimed at children and teenagers.
The park, which opened in April 2021, maintains a permanent environmental education program but intensifies it during summer vacation. The 234-hectare green space invites schools, teachers, summer courses, associations, and youth groups to experience hands-on learning through guided walks and environmental activities.
Offerings include guided walks through 15 thematic gardens, flora and fauna observation, birdwatching, photo safaris, and age-appropriate environmental workshops from preschool to high school level. Activities are designed to spark curiosity and strengthen commitment to caring for the planet.
From Friday to Sunday, the summer schedule features more than 30 workshops, including hiking, macrame, nature drawing, pottery, and chess.
Visits must be scheduled in advance through the park’s website at parquecancun.org or via this registration link, as well as through its official social media accounts @ParqueCancun. The park is open Tuesday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
With its 234 hectares, Parque Cancun ranks among the 10 largest urban parks in Mexico, dedicated to sports, culture, and the environment. In 2025, it received 452,000 visitors, and so far in 2026, it has already welcomed 200,000. The school visit program alone brought more than 21,000 students through the “Charly te trae al parque” / “Charibus” free bus service for public middle and high schools.
The upcoming Nichupte Lagoon Bridge is expected to improve access, cutting travel time by up to 20 minutes. The park estimates daily attendance could double from the current 500 visitors. A project to install full lighting is also underway, aiming to extend operating hours into the evening.
