Cancun Hotel Faces Court-Ordered Auction Over Labor Dispute

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A hotel in Cancún’s Hotel Zone could face a court-ordered auction after a labor ruling favored more than 100 workers who have been on strike since September 2025 over unpaid wages and benefits.

The conflict, now nearly 10 months old, centers on claims for back pay, savings fund contributions, grocery vouchers, and other contractual benefits. The recent court decision opens the door for the property to be sold at auction to cover the outstanding debts, though the ruling is not yet final.

The hotel’s owners still have a legal window to appeal the decision through an amparo injunction. If the appeal fails, the execution process will proceed as ordered by the labor authority.

The case has become one of the most significant labor disputes in Quintana Roo’s tourism sector in recent years, as the outcome could determine the fate of the property and the method for settling the recognized debts.
