Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta visiting Playa Delfines in Cancún, a Blue Flag certified beach

Cancún, Mexico — During the peak holiday season, Cancún’s tourism infrastructure is being put to the test. Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta has highlighted the quality and safety of Cancún’s certified beaches for 2025, inviting residents and tourists to enjoy these spaces. The key lies in strict environmental and service standards.

The Gold Standard in Benito Juárez’s Public Beaches

The municipality of Benito Juárez reaffirms its leadership in certified arenals, a crucial factor for attracting visitors during key seasons. The First Municipal Authority, Ana Paty Peralta, emphasized on December 27, 2025, the need to maintain excellence, safety, and high environmental and service standards in the bathing areas.

“In Cancún, we are leaders in certified beaches and our natural beauties are ready to welcome everyone,” stated the Municipal President.

The Visit to Playa Delfines

As a demonstration of the quality offered, Ana Paty Peralta conducted a tour of the iconic Playa Delfines, known locally as “El Mirador” and located at kilometer 17 of Boulevard Kukulcán.

This beach holds three of the most important environmental certifications in the sector:

  • Blue Flag.
  • Playa Platino.
  • Playa Limpia y Sustentable.

The Municipal President noted that these certifications validate quality standards and compliance with Mexican Official Norms, emphasizing that public beaches maintain free and open access for all Cancún residents and their visitors.

Infrastructure and Accessibility: Detailed Services

The seven arenals that hold the Blue Flag distinction in Cancún offer a complete range of essential services that guarantee user safety and comfort. These services are available during extended hours, from 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM.

Among the available services, Ana Paty Peralta highlighted the following:

  • Restrooms and showers.
  • Paramedics and lifeguards.
  • Information modules managed by the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone (ZOFEMAT) team.
  • Lifeguard towers.
  • Internet access.
  • Universal accessibility ramps.

The Geography of the 2025-2026 Distinctions

Data from the 2025-2026 season confirms the destination’s leadership position, not only in arenals but also in associated services and hotels.

Blue Flag Certification Numbers

In total, 49 Blue Flag distinctions are counted. These are distributed as follows:

  • 7 public beaches with the distinction.
  • 38 vessels from Cancún Sailing (with two new additions this year).
  • 4 certified hotels: Fiesta Americana Condesa, Iberostar, Flamingo, and Live Aqua.

Playa Limpia y Sustentable and Playa Platino

In addition to the Blue Flag distinction, the municipality stands out in other sustainability certifications:

  • Playa Limpia y Sustentable: Two public beaches were certified (Delfines level II and Las Perlas with level III) and one hotel (Occidental Tucancún).
