Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Federal and state authorities conducted a major raid on a property in Playa del Carmen on Saturday night as part of a drug-related investigation.
The operation targeted a building on 34th Street between 20th and 25th Avenues, in the border area between the Zazil-Ha and Gonzalo Guerrero neighborhoods.
The State Prosecutor’s Office led the search, supported by personnel from the National Guard, the Mexican Navy, and the Mexican Army, who deployed a large-scale security operation in the area.
The police cordon drew attention from residents and passersby as officials secured the zone to carry out their actions.
Preliminary information indicated the raid was related to alleged crimes against public health, meaning the possible sale or storage of drugs.
Authorities have not yet confirmed any arrests or injuries, and the investigation continues.
