Early this morning, a man believed to be a foreigner was apprehended outside the Barcelo Riviera Maya hotel following a disturbance at the San Jose taco shop in Puerto Aventuras. According to Magdalena, the owner of the taco shop, the man entered the establishment around 5 a.m., appearing to be under the influence of drugs. His behavior quickly escalated to aggression.
The situation took a dangerous turn when the man seized a knife and began threatening both customers and employees. Workers from a nearby cenote intervened, prompting the man to flee in the direction of the hotel complex.
The pursuit concluded at the entrance of the Barcelo Hotel, where the hotel's security staff confronted the man. Upon the arrival of the police, the man was apprehended and transported to the municipal cells in Playa del Carmen.
Authorities are currently working to determine the man's nationality and initiate legal proceedings.
