Tizimín, Yucatán — Alexander Garduño Ortiz, alias “Dimas,” a suspected high-level organized crime operator in Quintana Roo and Yucatán, was arrested in Tizimín during a joint operation by federal and state authorities, according to sources from the Federal Prosecutor’s Office (FGR).
Garduño was located near his ranch in Tizimín, which investigators believe he used as a hideout amid increased security pressure in Quintana Roo. From there, he allegedly coordinated criminal operations across the region.
The arrest was carried out by agents of the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office, working alongside the Mexican Army and the Secretariat of Public Security. They executed an arrest warrant based on intelligence that tracked his movements and routes.
After his capture, Garduño was transferred under heavy security to Quintana Roo, where he faces charges related to organized crime, including drug trafficking, kidnapping, and extortion.
Authorities had been tracking Garduño for months after intelligence linked him to coordinating criminal cells in both states. Unconfirmed reports suggest he was briefly detained by Kanasín municipal police but was released under unclear circumstances. Kanasín Mayor Edwin Bojórquez Ramírez has faced allegations of ties to organized crime, including claims of campaign financing from criminal groups during his 2024 election.
Garduño is believed to have overseen drug distribution and maintained contacts with local groups in municipalities such as Bacalar, Tulum, and Lázaro Cárdenas in Quintana Roo, as well as Tizimín, Valladolid, Kanasín, and Mérida in Yucatán.
