827 Motorcycles Stolen in Quintana Roo During First Half of 2026, Official Data Shows
Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Motorcycle thefts in Quintana Roo continue at an alarming rate, with 827 stolen in the first six months of 2026, according to the latest report from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System.
The data, updated through June 30, shows an average of five motorcycles stolen daily across the state. The majority of thefts — 740 cases — occurred without violence, meaning the motorcycles were parked and unattended when taken.
The municipality of Benito Juarez, which includes Cancun, accounts for 76% of all vehicle thefts in the state during the first half of the year, the report states.
Local authorities confirmed a recent theft in Playa del Carmen’s Zazil-Ha neighborhood, where two suspects stole a motorcycle from outside the owner’s home early this week. The owner reported the vehicle was taken Monday from the intersection of 20 Bis and 38th streets and has appealed to the public for any information that could help recover it.
The victim urged anyone with details about the motorcycle’s whereabouts or the suspects to contact authorities or call 911.
