Apizaco, Tlaxcala — An 11-year-old roller skater from Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo, has made history by winning five gold medals at the CONADE 2026 National Olympiad, becoming one of the top gold medalists from her state.

Yessica Jocabed Koh Pastrana, coached by Efraín Martínez Bardales, dominated the children’s category events held in Apizaco, Tlaxcala. Her performance marks the first time an athlete from Isla Mujeres has achieved such a gold medal haul in roller skating at the national youth competition.

Koh Pastrana opened her campaign with a gold in the 6-kilometer mass start race, clocking 11 minutes 16.957 seconds. She followed with a victory in the 500-meter sprint (50.91 seconds), then won the 100-meter head-to-head event in 12.401 seconds. Her fourth gold came in the 4-kilometer elimination race (8:08.399), and she sealed her historic run with a fifth gold in the 300-meter plus distance event (32.479 seconds).

Despite the lack of a skating rink in her home municipality, Koh Pastrana’s dedication and her coach’s guidance have yielded remarkable results, inspiring a new generation of young athletes in Isla Mujeres.
