Yucatán, Mexico — Yucatán Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining a close, open-door government without intermediaries with the people, as he participated in the Public Audiences session at the Government Palace this Sunday.
During this session, requests, suggestions, and problems were heard and addressed, a dynamic that has been permanently implemented since the beginning of the Maya Renaissance government.
“We have been here at the Government Palace most of the time, but also in neighborhoods with Dialogues with the People, in Mérida’s commissioner offices, and in various municipalities. I am very pleased to tell all of you that this government places what people present to us in these listening spaces at the center of decisions. Many actions that are currently under construction or already underway have come from these citizen audiences,” said Díaz Mena.
Therefore, the governor added, this exercise in closeness will continue in 2026 so that the budget of Yucatecans is used appropriately to address the population’s primary needs. He recalled that through the Maya Renaissance project, realities that were ignored for a long time are being addressed.
“This will not stop. We are working on improving schools and healthcare, and in 2026 we will see many social projects become reality that will strengthen attention to Yucatecans. The listening will continue, no matter where they come from or who they know, everyone is heard here because the way of governing of the Maya Renaissance is precisely face-to-face with citizens,” he reiterated.
