A family from Sotuta, Yucatán, stumbled upon an unexpected find on their property while constructing a septic tank – a cenote. The discovery was shared on TikTok by the user 'Made on the Farm' and quickly garnered attention. Since then, the family has been inundated with several purchase offers, including a staggering one million dollar proposal from international buyers.
Despite the substantial offer, equivalent to nearly 19 million pesos, the family has chosen to decline all proposals and remain in their home. In a discussion with the TikToker, they voiced their concerns about the possible instability of the land and the risk of collapse. However, they have decided against selling their property, placing a higher value on their emotional attachment to their home than the financial gain.
In a video posted on social media, the family revealed that they had been advised to sell their property and relocate to a larger or safer home. However, they have stood firm in their decision to stay, prioritizing their emotional bond with their land over monetary offers.
