Double tragedy at Yucatán construction site claims worker and mother

Police and emergency responders at the scene of the industrial accident in Conkal

Conkal, Yucatán — A double tragedy struck a construction materials company in the municipality of Conkal this afternoon when a worker lost his life inside a mixer and, minutes later, his mother died after suffering a heart attack upon receiving the news.

According to initial reports, the worker, identified as Alejandro C. C., approximately 35 years old and originally from Chicxulub Pueblo, was found dead inside the machinery, presumably from natural causes, while he was on his work shift.

After the death was confirmed, family members were informed of what happened; however, the worker’s mother suffered a fulminant cardiac crisis, causing her to also lose her life, generating consternation among co-workers and authorities.

Municipal Police of Conkal elements, as well as paramedics from municipal ambulances and the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), arrived at the scene and confirmed that the man no longer showed vital signs.

The area was cordoned off and guarded by authorities awaiting personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo), who carried out the corresponding procedures and the body removal to clarify the exact causes of the death.
