Woman Stabbed to Death in Cancun Park, Partner Sought

Police tape cordoning off a crime scene in a Cancun park after a woman was stabbed to death

Cancun, Quintana Roo — A woman was stabbed to death in a sports field in Cancun’s Supermanzana 91 neighborhood on Saturday, and authorities are searching for her partner as the primary suspect.

Cancun Municipal Police responded to a 911 report of a violent altercation, with some callers also mentioning gunshots. Arriving at the scene on Calle 65 and Calle 36, near a sports field in the Parques de la Unidad complex, officers found a woman lying dead in a pool of blood beside a chain-link fence.

Private paramedics confirmed she had no vital signs, having died from hypovolemic shock due to stab wounds.

Witnesses identified the victim by the alias “La Chaparra” and said she had been arguing with her partner moments before the attack. The man reportedly pulled out a knife and stabbed her repeatedly, then fled on foot.

Municipal officers cordoned off the scene to preserve evidence, which was later processed by forensic specialists from the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office (FGEQROO). Police from multiple agencies are conducting a search in the area, while investigators have opened a case file.
