Deadly Shooting at Playa del Carmen Casino

Playa del Carmen, Mexico — Two men were shot outside the Winpod casino while inside a vehicle; one of them managed to run to the entrance of the gambling establishment, where he collapsed and died.

The incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. in the parking lot of Plaza Las Américas, located on Avenida CTM between streets 115 and Chemuyil, when an individual ran to the casino entrance asking for help after being wounded by a firearm.

Personnel from the establishment requested an ambulance via the 911 emergency number, prompting authorities to arrive at the area, where they discovered another injured individual inside a truck.

The man who asked for help lost his life despite receiving first aid. Consequently, only the individual found inside the vehicle was transported to the hospital, while authorities cordoned off the area.

Spent shell casings were scattered across the area. It was reported that the assailants were in a white car, though no arrests have been reported in connection with the incident at this time.

The body of the deceased and the evidence were collected by forensic specialists from the State Attorney General's Office to begin the investigation.
