Cancún, Quintana Roo — Two men were detained in Cancún’s superblock 247 after being caught exchanging alleged drug doses and carrying a firearm during a joint operation by state and federal authorities.
The incident occurred on Paseo El Maple street, between Los Tules Avenue and Segunda Privada El Maple, in the Villas Otoch Paraíso neighborhood, where elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security were conducting preventive surveillance patrols. During the patrol, agents observed two males exchanging several plastic bags with green vegetation, with characteristics similar to marijuana.
Upon intervening, the officers conducted a security inspection, resulting in the detention of Hugo Rafael “N” and Esban Haziel “N”, who were identified as alleged participants in crimes against health and firearm possession.
During the inspection, authorities secured a fanny pack and a kangaroo pouch containing 62 bags with dry herb, allegedly marijuana; five ziploc-type bags with crystalline fragments similar to crystal; and 24 bags with white solid substance, with characteristics of the drug known as “piedra.”
Additionally, a short black and silver firearm, a magazine with eight live cartridges, two short firearm replicas, and two cell phones were confiscated.
