Two Men Arrested on Drug Charges in Benito Juárez

Police officers holding bags of suspected marijuana and crystal methamphetamine seized during two arrests in Benito Juárez, Quintana Roo.

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Authorities arrested two men in separate operations in Benito Juárez on drug-related charges, seizing more than 100 doses of narcotics, officials said.

The first arrest took place on Puerto Juárez Avenue, where officers from the Investigation Directorate, along with personnel from the Mexican Navy, the Mexican Army, and the National Guard, detained a man identified as Jan Pavel N.

The suspect was standing next to the trunk of a white Changan vehicle with Quintana Roo plates, handling small bags containing dried plant material resembling marijuana. He attempted to flee in the car but was quickly intercepted.

A search yielded 80 small ziploc bags and two large bags containing the same substance, along with a Vivo cellphone and 320 pesos in cash.

In a second operation, officers from the Orion Group, also working with the Navy, Army, and National Guard, arrested Esteban Octavio N. on Calle 4 in supermanzana 95.

The man was spotted behind a vehicle handling bags of green plant material. When he saw the officers, he tried to hide the substances and get into the car to escape, but was immediately detained.

A search of his person and the black Seat Ibiza with local plates uncovered 27 bags of suspected marijuana, 13 bags of crystalline fragments resembling crystal methamphetamine, and a Honor cellphone.

Both detainees, along with the vehicles and seized substances, were handed over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combatting Drug Dealing to determine their legal status.
