QUINTANA ROO, Mexico — The nautical community of Quintana Roo remains on alert following the disappearance of Captains Jorge Aragón and Ricardo Argaez, who went missing while en route to Isla Mujeres. Both men set sail on Thursday, August 20, 2025, from Key West, Florida, aboard a 32-foot Regal vessel equipped with two Yamaha engines, which they were to deliver to its owner upon arrival at the island, but they never reached port.
Relatives, colleagues, and sailors from the region have requested support to disseminate the information and locate the captains, who are highly regarded within the local maritime community. A search operation was activated in the area on Friday, August 22, with no sign of the vessel or its occupants having been found to date.
The case has raised alarms within the nautical and tourist sectors of Quintana Roo, which are issuing an urgent call to authorities, port captains, and local fishermen to collaborate in the search efforts. The disappearance of Aragón and Argaez underscores the importance of reinforcing safety measures for maritime voyages in the Mexican Caribbean.
