Tulum, Quintana Roo — Authorities arrested two people in Tulum on April 24 in separate operations, seizing more than 180 doses of suspected narcotics, according to officials.
The arrests were part of coordinated efforts between state security forces, the Mexican Army, and the State Prosecutor’s Office.
In the first operation, police detained Elena Nataly N., 35, from the State of Mexico, after officers on patrol observed suspicious behavior. A search yielded more than 75 doses of suspected illicit substances.
In the second operation, officers caught Óscar Yael N., 24, from Mexico City, red-handed with more than 107 doses of suspected narcotics, allegedly prepared for retail sale.
Both suspects were handed over to the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office, which has opened investigations to determine their legal status.
Authorities said the cases are linked to small-scale drug distribution in Tulum, a problem that has persisted in the municipal seat and high-traffic areas. The seizures are part of a series of recent operations by federal, state, and local forces to combat drug sales in urban and tourist zones.
Investigations remain open as officials look into possible connections between the detainees and other drug-selling cells in the region.
