TULUM — Amid a series of operational and administrative adjustments within the corporation, the Tulum City Council held a holiday gathering to recognize the work of Public Security and Citizen Protection personnel. During the event, municipal authorities highlighted a reduction of more than 60% in homicide cases over the past year.
Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo led the gathering and emphasized that the daily work of police officers, operational agents, and administrative staff has been a key factor in the results achieved. In his message, he reiterated that the municipal government will maintain its support for the corporation to strengthen its performance in protecting residents and tourists.
“The responsibility of caring for our people rests on you. You have all our support,” the mayor said before starting a raffle of gifts among the staff as part of the celebration.
Castañón Trejo also highlighted the internal renewal process driven by the Secretariat of Public Security and Citizen Protection, headed by Edgar Aguilar Rico. According to him, this coordinated work, together with state and federal agencies, has allowed progress in recovering tranquility in the municipality.
For his part, Secretary Edgar Aguilar noted that this year the corporation has been strengthened with new hires and uniform deliveries. He also announced that next year’s budget includes additional investment in C4 infrastructure, expansion of the video surveillance system, and more operational equipment.
Aguilar called on the personnel to maintain their commitment and leave behind practices that have affected the institutional image. “We are here to serve and protect, and we must be worthy representatives of this responsibility,” he emphasized.
The holiday gathering included a raffle of motorcycles, televisions, appliances, and other gifts, while attendees shared a breakfast accompanied by live music.
The municipal government stated that these actions seek to strengthen the work environment within the corporation and consolidate the personnel’s commitment to Tulum’s public security.
