Tulum, Mexico — With the onset of the rainy season and a rise in the presence of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the Tulum municipal government has ramped up preventive measures to combat the spread of Dengue, Zika, and Chikungunya. Under the supervision of Mayor Diego Castañón, the General Directorate of Municipal Health has deployed teams for larvicide control, fumigation, and public awareness campaigns across neighborhoods, prioritizing high-density areas and locations with stagnant water.
Sanitary Alert Amid Rainy Season
Municipal brigades are conducting clean-up drives, eliminating breeding sites, applying larvicides to water containers, and carrying out morning and evening fumigation rounds. Health workers are also visiting homes to educate families on preventive measures, such as maintaining clean yards, covering water storage containers, and disposing of objects that collect water. Informational pamphlets with practical recommendations are being distributed to reinforce these efforts.
Mayor Diego Castañón emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating:
"The health of Tulum’s residents is a priority. We are working tirelessly to prevent outbreaks and ensure healthy environments for everyone."
Comprehensive Public Health Strategy
These actions are part of a broader public health initiative aimed at reducing epidemiological risks and fostering a culture of prevention in Tulum. Municipal authorities urge residents to stay informed and actively collaborate to curb the spread of disease-carrying mosquitoes.
The campaign underscores the need for sustained vigilance as the rainy season progresses, with officials monitoring high-risk zones and expanding outreach efforts.
